Dussehra blessings

The next day the office was closed for Dussehra and all the staff went around to bless the tools/equipment (thanking them, in a way). So the surgeons blessed their operating tools, the drivers blessed their trucks, the cooks their pots and pans, we all blessed our computers… It sort of reminded me of the Native American tradition of hunters thanking the animal they’d killed for giving its meat.

Dr. Rani Bang (known here as Amma, mother and Rani Tayi, sister) preparing to do the aarti blessing in the hospital
And doing the blessing on the surgery beds
The trucks all decked out with fresh hyacinth chains
Madura and her mother Rina…tooooooo cute! 🙂
